Beechworth Historic Precinct
The Beechworth Historic Precinct consists of the Burke Museum, Beechworth Courthouse, Telegraph Station, Powder Magazine and Sub-Treasury Building. Each building has a story to tell, with its contents adding layer upon layer of fascinating detail on subjects such as Ned Kelly, the Gold Rush, the town itself and the colourful people who called it home.
Please note that the Sub-Treasury Building and Powder Magazine are currently closed.
There are few towns so beautifully preserved as Beechworth. With her deep stone gutters and charming little shops - many with an almost identical facade to that of the Gold Rush days, the allure of Beechworth undoubtedly lies in her tangible history.
Stone walls that have watched over 160 years pass are a marvel in themselves, demonstrating the hope once had for the town to become a powerful, wealthy and influential place for far longer than the intense but short-lived spurt she did.
The Burke Museum and Historic Precinct are the heart of historic Beechworth, carefully curated to tell the stories that made this town famous. Visit the 'Street of Shops' at the Burke Museum and walk the streets of Beechworth in the 1850s.
The Beechworth Courthouse is home to the Kelly Trials Exhibition.
The Beechworth Courthouse played a significant role during the Kelly outbreak of 1878-1880, as the location of more than 40 trials and hearings for the Kelly Gang and its sympathisers.
The Kelly Trials Exhibition provides an immersive 270-degree, wrap around multimedia experience, telling the stories of crime and punishment, governance and law, and bushranger Ned Kelly.
Hosted sessions run daily on the hour from 10:00am, with the last session beginning at 3:00pm.
Tickets are available to purchase online or from the Beechworth Visitor Information Centre.
Ramp access and service animal friendly. Please note that dogs are not permitted within the historic buildings.

10:15 am - Gold Rush Walking Tour
1:15 pm - Ned Kelly Walking Tour
Tickets are $7 general admission, $5 concession and $18 family (up to 2 adults and 3 children). Tickets can be purchased on the day at the Beechworth Visitor Information Centre or Burke Museum. Please note that dogs are not permitted on either walking tour.
